It’s been a busy old time of late for Ridley Scott, who has been putting out movies at a rate that belies his 83 years. House Of Gucci is next up for release, but while out promoting it, Scott dropped word that a live-action TV series based on Blade Runner is also now in the works.
Talking with the BBC’s Today programme, Scott let slip the early word: “We have already written the pilot for Blade Runner and the bible. So, we’re already presenting Blade Runner as a TV show, the first 10 hours.'” He offered no further details, such as who is running the new series and there’s no sign yet where it might end up in terms of network or streaming (we’d guess the latter, and most likely HBO Max, since that’s part of BR rights holders WarnerMedia). We’ll also have to wait and see whether Scott has involvement beyond producing – though as with Raised By Wolves, he could end up directing the pilot and possibly more to set the tone and visuals for the show.
This is just the latest small-screen project to spin off from Scott’s 1982 original – animated action noir tale Blade Runner: Black Lotus debuted on the US Adult Swim network earlier this month.
House Of Gucci, meanwhile, sashays into UK cinemas on Friday.
