Do you want the good news, or the bad news? Let’s start with the good: there’s a new trailer for The Batman on the way at last, over a year since the previous one debuted. The bad: we won’t get our next full glimpse at Matt Reeves’ take on the dark knight until October. How do we know about a trailer drop a month and a half in advance? Because it’s due to debut at the just-announced second incarnation of DC’s FanDome event on 16 October, gathering all the usually Comic-Con-worthy news from the world of DC into one in-house online event comprising updates, panels and footage reveals for upcoming movies, comics, TV series, video games, HBO Max shows and more.

DC FanDome 2021 has plenty up its sleeves – as well as a new trailer for The Batman, it’s also confirmed to reveal new looks at Black Adam, The Flash, Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom, and Shazam! Fury Of The Gods. Plus, we’ll see stuff from DC League Of Super-Pets too, if that’s your bag. The event will also bring an exclusive look at James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad HBO Max spin-off series Peacemaker, early footage from Harley Quinn Series 3, and showcase the upcoming new seasons of Batwoman, The Flash, Superman & Lois, Sweet Tooth and more.

The big headline event, though, will be that The Batman trailer – hopefully delivering a better look at Robert Pattinson’s Bruce Wayne, Zoë Kravitz’s Selina Kyle, Paul Dano’s Riddler, and Colin Farrell’s Penguin. Reeves’ film isn’t a Year One story, but follows Batman near the start of his caped crusading, unpicking a detective mystery that involves several members of the rogues gallery. The previous trailer was debuted at last year’s FanDome event – and this new one comes roughly half a year before the film’s release, expected to arrive in UK cinemas from 4 March 2022.
