Months of lockdown hasn’t just meant that massive blockbusters like Black Widow and No Time To Die have been delayed – it’s also pushed back some much-anticipated smaller movies, among them Supernova. The second film from Hinterland director Harry Macqueen has already proved a firm festival hit but hasn’t yet been able to make its out way into the world on a wider release – until now. With cinemas opening again, it’s now set to hit UK screens from 25 June.
The film stars screen favourites Colin Firth and Stanley Tucci as Sam and Tusker – a couple who have lived a steady, loving life together for 20 years. But with Tusker having been diagnosed with young-onset dementia, their time together is limited, and they set off on a camper van trip across the expanse of England to spend some time together, and with their friends and family, before the inevitable arrives. By all accounts the film is both beautiful and heartbreaking – and we have some exclusive alternative posters for the film which show off the tender connection between the two.
And here’s the trailer.
Catch Supernova in UK cinemas on 25 June – and bring plenty of tissues.
