The cameras have just started rolling on musical prequel Wonka, with Timothée Chalamet in the lead role and Paddington‘s Paul King co-writing and directing. We now know who will also appear in the film, and it’s a chocolate factory-sized cast list led by Rowan Atkinson, Olivia Colman and Sally Hawkins.

And the latter is just one of the Paddington alumni who will show up, as Tom Davis, Kobna Holdbrook-Smith, Simon Farnaby (who co-writes again with King) and Matt Lucas are all aboard. But we said it was a big cast, so here’s who else is on for King’s latest… Jim Carter, Rich Fulcher, Paterson Joseph, Calah Lane, Colin O’Brien, Natasha Rothwell, Rakhee Thakrar and Ellie White all join the previously announced Keegan-Michael Key.

The Divine Comedy’s Neil Hannon is providing the tunes for this one, which already boosts our anticipation levels. According to the official announcement for the film, it’ll explore the “vivid, mythical beginnings of the imaginative young inventor before he becomes the renowned scrumdiddlyumptious Mozart of chocolate.” Wonka is heading our way on 17 March, 2023, so we’ve got a wait ahead of us…
