We should have been watching John Krasinki‘s horror sequel A Quiet Place Part II over a year ago on the big screen, but the wait is finally almost over: a final trailer for one of the biggest, and scariest, thrillers of the year confirms it’s finally on the way.
Emily Blunt reprises her role as Evelyn Abbott, the widow of Lee and mother of Regan, Marcus and baby Abbott, who must now soldier on into the unknown while the terrifying creatures who hunt by sound grow ever closer.
While Krasinski’s Lee sacrificed his life for his family at the end of the first film, the trailer promises a brief appearance from the actor in flashbacks detailing how the Abbott family found themselves in such a dystopian situation. Explaining why he wrote himself into the sequel, the writer-director told Ellen De Generes: “It was really important for me to continue the metaphor and we actually start dealing with how this all started.”
Paramount’s official synopsis for A Quiet Place Part II reads: “Following the deadly events at home, the Abbott family must now face the terrors of the outside world as they continue their fight for survival in silence. Forced to venture into the unknown, they quickly realize that the creatures that hunt by sound are not the only threats that lurk beyond the sand path.”
Alongside Blunt, Millicent Simmonds and Noah Jupe will be reprising their roles as Regan and Marcus respectively. Djimon Hounsou will be starring in the film as well, but it’s Cillian Murphy‘s Emmett who is set to make quite the impression on the franchise. And if his grisly, fever-pitch appearance in the trailer is anything to go by, you’ll want to watch his every move.
A Quiet Place Part II will be released in US cinemas on 28 May, and across the UK on 4 June.
