We’ve already had to wait a while for George Miller‘s planned Mad Max Fury Road prequel, called Furiosa after the character played by Charlize Theron, and set to be brought to life in younger form by Anya Taylor-Joy. Now, we’ll have to wait even longer for the movie to hit cinemas, as Warner Bros. has moved its release back to May 2024.

No reason was given for the delay, aside from the vagaries of studio scheduling, and the natural impact of Covid delays on actor availability and the long time period needed to make the new film. Furiosa will also star Chris Hemsworth and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, for what promises to be another action spectacle from Miller.

Yet if you’re frustrated by the longer wait, take comfort in the fact that his latest film, Three Thousand Years Of Longing, which stars Idris Elba and Tilda Swinton, should be out next year.

In related WB release news, the studio has dated its adaptation of Stephen King novel Salem’s Lot for a September 2022. Directed by Annabelle Comes Home‘s Gary Dauberman, it stars Alfre Woodard, Lewis Pullman, Bill Camp, Spencer Treat Clark, and William Sadler.
