In amongst all the zombie chaos, tiger weirdness and Dave Bautista scowling, one of the highlights of Zack Snyder‘s Army Of The Dead was nervy safecracker Dieter, played by Matthias Schweighöfer. We’ve known for a while that a prequel film featuring the character was in the works, and now Netflix has released the first pictures.

With Snyder producing and co-writing the story (Dead‘s Shay Hatten cranked out the actual script), Schweighöfer takes the director’s chair this time, as well as starring.

The story finds the small-town bank teller drawn into the adventure of a lifetime when a mysterious woman recruits him to join a crew of Interpol’s most wanted criminals, attempting to heist a sequence of legendary, impossible-to-crack safes across Europe.

Nathalie Emmanuel, Ruby O. Fee, Stuart Martin, Guz Khan, Jonathan Cohen and Noémie Nakai are all featured, and the movie itself should be out in the autumn.
